1. Storing regular documents and files

OneDrive

Standard storage area for employees.

Log in to OneDrive (Office 365)

  • Up to 1TB of storage space
  • Advanced options for sharing folders, files, and document co-authoring.
  • Always available if you have internet access or if you have synced the files
  • Full version history
  • Option to synchronise files with mobile devices and PCs.
  • Not suitable for sensitive information and completed archival material.

Common directory (K:)

Shared network storage at OsloMet.

  • OsloMet backs up the files.
  • The files are shared with your own department or others according to the organisational chart.
  • Only available on campus or via VPN.
  • Not suitable for sensitive information.

OsloMet-PC (Desktop, C:\temp and C:\Users)

Local storage on PC.

  • No backup of the files.
  • Available for users of the PC, even without internet access.
  • Used for storing files you wish to work on without internet access.
  • Not suitable for sensitive information.

Mobile disks and memory sticks

Non-encrypted storage devices that give anyone in possession of the disk / memory stick access to the stored information.

  • Always available.
  • No backup of the files
  • Possible to transfer files from one device to another without internet connection.
  • If the storage device is encrypted, sensitive information can be stored.

File Transfer
