Course responsibility: Quality assuring the reading lists

Procedure for literature/reading lists for departments at the Faculty of Health Science

Purpose and scope

The purpose of the procedure is to publish correct and quality-assured literature/reading lists.

The library ensures the quality of the literature/reading lists before they are published on the university’s publishing system online. This is done to ensure that the literature is up to date with regard to latest editions, that the titles are still on the market, and that the references are correctly cited in accordance with the APA style.

Responsibility and authority

The library has the main responsibility for the procedure being carried out. Each department ensures that the reading list is assigned to ether head of department or the person who has been delegated the task from head of department, e.g., study programme coordinator, cohort coordinators, person with course responsibility. The departments choose how they want to organize, but the head of department is responsible for delegating the responsibilities. The subject librarians have the responsibility for the literature list within their discipline. The subject librarians may delegate the work to other librarians.

Deadlines

The lists must be sent to the library by April 15th for the autumn semester, and October 15th for the spring semester every year. For the libraries the deadline for publishing quality-assured reading lists online is July 1st for the autumn semester and December 1st for the spring semester.

Contact

The reading lists must be sent to the subject librarians/head of section in the libraries who makes sure that the reading lists are distributed to the relevant subject librarians.
