PhD Milestones
First Year
- New PhD candidates are given 10–15 minutes at their first research group meeting to introduce themselves and their project. Questions are welcome, but this is not intended to be a critical discussion. A project outline may be shared in advance but is not required reading.
- Within the first 6–12 months, new candidates should present a draft in the research group. This presentation should aim to connect the work done so far with the overall PhD project. The draft may be an extended project outline, literature review, project strategy, article draft, or similar, depending on the type of feedback the candidate is seeking.
