Channels for Internal Communication
-
Principles for Content in Internal Channels
- Content should reside and be maintained in one place. Otherwise, link to where the content is.
- Info for all employees/large employee groups should be openly available on the employee web pages. Official/guiding documents should be openly available on the employee web pages.
- Local info for units/groups can be in Teams, or in professional systems.
- Avoid developing SharePoint as additional websites.
-
Employee Web Pages
- Our employee web pages have the address ansatt.oslomet.no.
- This is the main channel for internal communication.
- Almost all information on the employee web pages is open to everyone.
- You do not need to be logged in. When you click Log in, you come to "My Page". On "My Page", you can manage shortcuts to websites that are important to you. You will also find the latest news and upcoming events.

Email
OsloMet has its own guidelines for the use of email for students and employees. The Department of External Relations and Communications has editorial responsibility for the use of email to all employees, just like for other common communication channels at the university. The Department for ICT manages email lists of employees and students.
Access to send emails to all employees is closed. Exceptions are made for the use of email to everyone in connection with common newsletters, crisis management, or other very special cases.
OsloMet has a restrictive policy when it comes to distributing email lists to other actors, especially commercial ones. Email lists will therefore only be distributed in very special cases and after a specific assessment.
OsloMet assumes that whoever may use these lists has obtained necessary permissions (possibly through a transfer agreement) and follows relevant legislation when using the lists.
- Email to smaller groups: For smaller groups than all employees, it will be up to the leader of the unit how to send emails to employees. For example, it will be up to the dean how to send emails at a faculty.
- Email to students: For students, email is sent from the Joint Student System (FS). The Division for Education manages this for emails to all students. The Department of External Relations and Communications provides advice. For smaller groups of students, this is managed by the units such as faculty, institute, and study program.

Teams
Internal communication in Teams groups is primarily ongoing/current information that is relevant to the group - for example:
- Newsletters/regular updates from the leader can be posted in organizational teams.
- Leaders/employees can post news/updates/ announcements in the topic when the matter concerns the members who are part of the team.
- Each team also has its own storage area where more fixed information for the members of the group can be located.
-
Internal Newsletters
Internal Newsletters Newsletters contain editorially selected content. The letter often points to news that is published online. Read the guidelines for using newsletters at OsloMet (in norwegian).
-
Meetings/Events and Line Communication
Communication is a line responsibility. As a leader, you are responsible for ensuring that the information you receive flows further down your line. To communicate well in the line, you can use these channels:
- Regular meetings for the unit/leader meetings
- Events
- Teams
-
Visual Communication
- OsloMet's logo and visual profile should be used for internal visual communication.
- New logos or name features for units, projects, or events under the auspices of OsloMet should not be designed. The unit must design, print, and place notices according to current guidelines.
-
Social Media
At OsloMet, we consider social media as channels for external target groups. Facebook and LinkedIn are channels where content can also be directed towards employees.
