New employee at OsloMet
It is the manager's responsibility to plan the induction period. The manager decides which other resource persons, such as sponsors and other colleagues, can assist in various practical tasks.

Leader
The leader is primarily responsible for ensuring that new employees are welcomed in a good manner. They must feel welcome and everything must be ready at start-up. The training must be planned and thorough. There should be dialogue about expectations that goes both ways.
- Order PC/ equipment (servicenow.no) (leader)
- Order a welcome gift (cup/plant/water bottle) (btb.tjenester.oslomet.no) (leader)
- Order cleaning and preparation of office/ signboard/ mail slot (bie.tjenester.oslomet.no)
- Call the new employee at least one week before starting
- Clarify the need for facilitation
- Set up and prepare equipment
- Give contact information to manager at start-up
- Clarify time and place for start-up
- Make proposals for training plans (.docx)
- Appoint a professional sponsor and possibly a social sponsor
- OsloMet International Staff Service must be involved when hiring international staff. HR/manager fills out a form with information about the employee (nettskjema.no) which notifies OMISS about the need for onboarding services.

HR
OsloMet International Staff Service (OMISS) carries out a digital onboarding conversation with all new international guest researchers and employees prior to arrival in Norway. Based on information provided by manager/HR in a questionnaire, OMISS assists the new employee with immigration, housing, intergration and other topics.
Local HR supports leaders in receiving new employees.
