Getting started with WISEflow – new examination system at OsloMet

Since October, nearly 1,500 students have completed exams using the new system during the pilot phase.

Feedback so far has been positive from both staff and students. By December, around 120 exams will have been conducted during the pilot phase.

The project group responsible for the implementation would like to extend a special thanks to lecturers, examiners, and the student administration who have participated in training and, through their efforts, ensured that the pilot exams in WISEflow have proceeded as planned.

Simplified assessment

With WISEflow, the entire assessment process takes place within the same system – from creating assignments to marking, providing explanations, and handling appeals. This means that Fagpersonweb (the website is in Norwegian) will be phased out for these functions.

In the exam venues at Silurveien (student.oslomet.no), the use of cameras on exam PCs to photograph attachments has been tested with good results.

It has also become easier to grant external examiners access to the examination system through the allocation of guest accounts at OsloMet. Read more about access here.

Used at several universities and university colleges

WISEflow is a new shared solution for digital examinations in the higher education sector, procured by Sikt – the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research.

WISEflow has been in use at several major universities and university colleges for many years. It is structured differently from the Inspera examination system, which has been used at OsloMet until now.

It may feel unfamiliar at first. The project group takes this seriously and is focused on ensuring that everyone becomes confident in using the examination solution.

Training and knowledge sharing

DIGIN has held a number of courses and workshops for lecturers, focusing on assignment creation and marking. Over 160 lecturers have participated. Individual guidance is also available if needed.

The project group and the student administration are working closely together to ensure smooth examination processes and continuous knowledge sharing.

Plans for spring 2026

The plan is for all exams, with a few exceptions, to be conducted in WISEflow from the spring semester of 2026.

Units will be informed when it is their turn to start using WISEflow.

Training will be offered to lecturers, examiners, and administrative staff.

OsloMet will use Sikt’s solution to transfer certain types of multiple-choice questions from Inspera to WISEflow. The solution has been tested by the project group, and suggestions for improvements have been submitted.
