Two-factor authentication on IT-systems

OsloMet will now start implementation of two-factor authentication on Microsoft Office 365 and associated Microsoft systems. The purpose of this is to increase security on OsloMet's systems, and thereby avoid attacks that harm us and the risk of losing data.

Two-factor authentication will first be introduced on Microsoft Office 365 and associated systems from Microsoft. Later it will be introduced to other systems as well.

The implementation means that first time you will set up and log in with two-factor authentication. It will take between 10-20 minutes.

Two-factor authentication must be used when logging on to Microsoft Office 365 on new ICT equipment for the first time, and always when logging in to Microsoft systems in browsers. In installed Microsoft software (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) you must re-authenticate with two-factor authentication after 90 days.

Two-factor authentication for Microsoft Office 365 will be based on the use of the code application Microsoft Authenticator, which you download to your mobile phone. When it is your turn to onboard, you will receive an email. It will inform you about when to start using two-factor authentication and how to set it up.

Guidance and support

Guides and other relevant information will be sent by e-mail and made available at out website for employees. The service desk will provide the necessary user support if needed.
