Shut Up and Write Online for OsloMet researchers
The Unit for Academic Language and Practices organizes several Shut Up and Write sessions each semester. Please see below for details.
What is Shut Up and Write?
Shut Up and Write has always been about motivating ourselves to write and finding the time to write. Academic life is busy, and finding time to write can be difficult. And the Time of Corona doesn’t make it any easier – if writing can be solitary and daunting at the best of times, it is even more so now.
But not at Shut Up and Write Online!
Shut Up and Write Online makes writing a social activity. Join us in the Zoom room; write for a while, take a break, share thoughts, talk, drink coffee. Just like at the regular Shut Up and Write! And in this way, we will have supported each other to spend a couple of hours writing.
When can I Shut Up and Write?
The dates for the spring semester 2020 are:
- 28 May
- 4 June
- 11 June
- 18 June
Each session will run from 09:00-12:00.
All are welcome. There is no need to book Shut Up and Write in advance. Write an e-mail to email@example.com to get the link to the Zoom room, and then just enter the Zoom room and start writing.
When you enter the Zoom room, one of us will introduce the session and get us underway. But while you are writing, your mic will be muted (and you can turn off your video if you like). When we regroup to talk, you can switch your sound and video back on.
Shut Up and Write is not a course – it is protected time for writing. So although I am writing this in English, you can write in whatever language you like, and work on whatever text you like!
We look forward to seeing you at one or more Shut Up and Write events. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
