Common Teaching Rooms

Common Teaching Rooms

Common Teaching Rooms (FUR) is a general term for a category of rooms available to all users, regardless of faculty or department affiliation. The rooms can be reserved through the local scheduler for anyone who is in need of a room.

The Department of Facility Management is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of these rooms, including audiovisual equipment.

Support for audiovisual equipment is handled by the Auditoriehjelpen, and all inquiries should be directed to auditoriehjelpen@oslomet.no.

  • Categories of common teaching rooms (FUR)

We have several different types of common teaching rooms. All FUR rooms can be freely reserved by anyone at OsloMet.

    Hybrid rooms

Hybrid rooms can be used for remote teaching while having students locally. Hybrid rooms are available in versions 1.0 and 2.0.

    • Version 1.0 is equipped with a fixed camera at the lectern and cannot pick up sound from students. This room is less flexible than version 2.0 for both the teacher and the students.

    • Version 2.0 offers full flexibility. A tracking camera will follow the teacher, and the rooms are equipped with hall microphones that pick up the students. Efforts are being made to upgrade as many rooms as possible to the 2.0 standard.

    Classrooms

Standard teaching rooms with a classroom setup on a flat floor. In the scheduling system, these are shown as classrooms.

    Auditoriums

Rooms built in tiers with an amphitheater setup. They can come in version 1.0 or 2.0 for hybrid solutions. In the scheduling system, these are shown as auditoriums.

    ALC rooms

Group-based rooms with several group tables. All ALC rooms have functionality that allows students to present to the rest of the class. All ALC rooms are hybrid version 1.0.

    Seminar rooms

Group-based rooms but do not have the same flexibility as ALC rooms. In the scheduling system, these rooms are shown as seminar rooms.

    Course and conference rooms

Teaching rooms that belong to the course and conference center in P46 and are booked through the KK center. In the scheduling system, these are shown as KK rooms.

    Group rooms

Most group rooms will have a screen that students can connect to. Group rooms that are not associated with or reserved for a faculty or department are the responsibility of the Property Department. In the scheduling system, these are shown as group rooms.
