Security Month - Security is a Necessity

Employees at OsloMet have received emails with e-learning about various security topics over the past four weeks:

Personal Security - Being aware of your surroundings and potential dangers can reduce the risk of unpleasant incidents. Did you know that with sikresiden.no, you have access to information and clear advice on how you can contribute to good security, and what you can do when something happens? It's about protecting yourself and others around you.

Digital Security - is a critical part of our daily lives, especially with the increasing use of digital devices and the internet. Threats such as hacking, phishing, and malware can lead to loss of sensitive data and financial loss. To protect ourselves against such threats, it's important to follow the advice of using strong passwords, updating software regularly, and being sceptical of unknown emails and links.

National Security - includes protection against espionage, among other things. This requires cooperation between various authorities, as well as investment in technology and resources. At OsloMet, we aim to be as open as possible, but as secure as necessary. Cross-organizational efforts are being made to live up to this.

Not too late to take e-learning

If you still haven't completed the e-learning, it's not too late. With e-learning, OsloMet aims to increase awareness around security and what each individual can do.

“Security concerns us all, whether it's our own security, digital security, or security that affects us as a society and nation. For OsloMet and all of us here, unwanted incidents can occur suddenly and unexpectedly, or slowly and less visibly”, says Chief Security Office Stian Rabe.

“We are a large university in the capital. We have students and employees from all over the world, and we manage values of high significance. We are digital, and we work and study from everywhere. Accidents and mishaps can happen. There are those who want unauthorized access to our research values and personal information. Everyone must participate in a comprehensive security effort, so that we take care of each other and our values”, says Rabe.
