Health Collaboration with Singapore

OsloMet recently entered into a collaboration agreement with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to develop areas of expertise within the fields of health and health technology.

In late September, OsloMet visited the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SiT) during the Norway-Singapore Science Week, organized by Innovation Norway and the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore. Participants from Norway also included NTNU, UiT, and SINTEF.

The OsloMet delegation included representatives from the Faculty of Technology, Art, and Design, as well as the Faculty of Health Sciences, along with the Vice-Rector for Social Improvement and Collaboration, Carl Thodesen.

During the visit, the Faculty of Health Sciences (HV) at OsloMet signed a collaboration agreement with the Faculty of Medicine (Loo Ling School of Medicine) at the National University of Singapore. The agreement involves both academic communities contributing to mutual strengthening of knowledge and education in fields such as midwifery, health nursing, and health technology.

Outstanding Collaborative Partner

Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Gro Jamtvedt, is proud and delighted about the collaboration.

"National University of Singapore is one of Asia's top universities and was ranked the ninth-best in the world earlier this year. They have strong and impressive expertise in the field of health, and clearly, we have much to learn from them, particularly in areas related to health innovation and health technology," says Jamtvedt.

"It was pleasing to see that they also identified strengths in us that they wish to leverage, including our programs in midwifery and health nursing," she adds.

Representatives from the National University of Singapore's Institute of Health Technology will participate in OsloMet's first conference on intelligent health, scheduled for October 19th and 20th. You can view the program and register here.

Significant Collaboration

Norway and Singapore have had a longstanding academic collaboration in various fields, and OsloMet has been in contact with the National University of Singapore (NUS) for some time regarding increased cooperation.

"The opportunity to now materialize the collaboration with their academic communities in the fields of health and technology means a lot to OsloMet," says Vice-Rector for Social Improvement and Collaboration, Carl Thodesen.

"I see great enthusiasm among our staff who are involved in the collaboration, and I believe this can be of great benefit to both employees and students in various academic communities," Thodesen concludes.
