Mapping the working environment

Mapping the working environment

Mapping the physical and psychosocial working environment is part of OsloMet’s systematic HSE work and is meant to provide an overview of what works well, what needs to be improved and what is missing and needs to be developed.

Mapping the physical working environment

All units must map the physical working environment at least once a year by undertaking a safety inspection round or any other systematic mapping of the physical working environment situation.

A safety inspection round is an observational inspection of the safety area, during which the manager and the safety delegate assess the conditions of the physical working environment. The occupational health service maybe invited to take part in the inspection round as needed.

The safety inspection round will provide the unit with a basis for preparing an action plan containing priorities and measures for improving the physical HSE conditions.

Safety inspection rounds must by undertaken by the end of October.

Mapping the psychosocial and organisational working environment

All units should map the psychosocial and organisational working environment at least once a year. There are several methods for mapping the psychosocial and organisational working environment, but regardless of method, the employees must always get the opportunity to comment on the working environment, and their views must be communicated to the managers with HR responsibility at the various levels.

The WEC can provide recommendations, for example, that certain cases should be reviewed separately.

The mapping of the psychosocial and organisational working environment will provide the unit with a basis for the preparation of an action plan containing priorities and measures for improving the psychosocial HSE conditions.

The mapping of the psychosocial and organisational working environment must be completed by the end of November.

NOTE! During the years in which employee surveys are carried out, this measure of mapping of the psychosocial and organisational work environment is sufficient. The monitoring of the results from the employee survey must address the need for development and improvement of the psychosocial work environment.
