Did you know that OsloMet needs a data processor agreement before you can start to use most free software and digital tools? Find out how to secure and protect data, so that you do not make a threat to information security at OsloMet.

What to think about?

If you want to use software and other digital tools, please take necessary measures to protect personal data. All applications in use at OsloMet must be acquired accordingly to the process of new applications or IT systems.

If you transfer data through schemes, analysis, storage or access, and these data can be connected to a person, a data processor agreement between OsloMet and the supplier is always needed.

Please contact IT Servicedesk in order to find out if OsloMet already have an agreement for the digital tool or software you want use.

Why do OsloMet need to control my use of free software and digital tools?

All students, respondents and other persons you collect data about can demand to access OsloMets treatment of their personal data. If you have started to use an application or system withut knowing have the personal data is store, this might lead to OsloMet breaking the law of privacy protection.

If any laws are broken the Norwegian Data Protection Authority can demand OsloMet to stop using the application, and fine the institution.

Personal data can in a worst case scenario be shared and misused by unauthorized personell if OsloMet do not put demands on data protection. OsloMets reputation can consequencely be seriously damaged.
