Buzzing life on the rooftop!

Six beehives are located the rooftop in P52. Tens of thousands of OsloMet bees have already started the semester with sustainable pollination work!

Throughout the winter, the Department of Real Estate and Green OsloMet has worked with green measures for sustainability. One of the measures has now been implemented: Six beehives are in place on the roof in Pilestredet 52. The city's flowers and trees can look forward to a visit from the OsloMet bees!

With six beehives, OsloMet's students and staff can enjoy several hundred kilos of honey. The idea is to be able to sell honey in glasses to everyone.

- By having six beehives on the roof in P52, OsloMet will contribute to the biological diversity in the city. We hope the bees will thrive at OsloMet and produce many litres of honey that can benefit students, employees and partners, says real estate director Mariann Hole.

Since the hives were set out, 25 kilos of honey have already been produced. How do we know that a fact, you may ask? Along with the beehives, a honey scale for daily update has been installed so you can follow the honey production

High level profiling

Not only are the bees themselves ambassadors of OsloMet as they fly around the city in their yellow and black colours, the hives are painted to match both the "inhabitants" and the university's graphic profile. In addition, the honey can be a nice profiling gift from OsloMet to, for example, guest lecturers or others.

In the meantime, we wish the bees good luck with their buzzing out into the summer!
