News about the OsloMet databases from EBSCO
The EBSCO databases, which is used by researchers at OsloMet among others, will become more user-friendly. If you have custom folders, the folders must be moved by 18 December.
Are you searching for scholarly literature in databases such as Academic Search Ultimate, Business Source Elite, and CINAHL? These databases, and more, are available through the EBSCOhost platform. EBSCOhost is launching a new user interface for its databases to make the interface more user-friendly, also with a focus on universal design.
In addition, new functionality is introduced, such as personal dashboards for saving materials and searches (ebsco.com).
Migration of accounts and saved searches
The transition to the new EBSCOhost user interface is mandatory. For OsloMet users, this will occur on Friday 19 December.
If you have an EBSCOhost account, it will be automatically migrated to the new interface. This also applies to most of the saved searches. Information about the migration (ebsco.com).
Custom folders in classic EBSCOhost (action needed)
Existing Custom folders in the classic interface will not be automatically migrated to the new interface.
To secure the content in Custom folders:
- Up to and including 18 December: Move the content of custom folders to My Folder (ebsco.com). This will automatically migrate the content to the new interface.
- Between 19–31 December: Follow the instructions from EBSCO (ebsco.com) to download the folder structure from the classic interface and recreate it in the new interface, if necessary.
This functionality will be available until 31 December 2025.
Summary of key dates
- 18 December: Final deadline to move content in the classic interface from Custom Folders to My Folder.
- 19 December: The new interface is activated, and the classic interface is no longer available.
- 31 December: Last opportunity to download Excel file with content from custom folders in the classic interface.
