Celebrating the Italian research day at OsloMet
OsloMet hosted the Italian embassy's celebration of the Italian Research Day on May 20, 2025.
The Italian research day is an event to honor the contributions of Italian researchers to science and society. In Norway, the celebration took the form of a hybrid seminar titled "Food and Health: Contributions of Italian Researchers to Healthy and Sustainable Nutrition in Norwegian Society."
Mutual joy and benefit across borders
The seminar was opened by Stefano Nicoletti, Italy's ambassador to Norway, and Carl Christian Thodesen, OsloMet's Pro-rector for social impact and collaboration.
- As we did during the Research Day in 2024, where we organized a seminar on artificial intelligence, we have again chosen an interdisciplinary topic this year—a topic that sparks interest among professionals and those seeking greater awareness about something that concerns us all: health and nutrition, stated Ambassador Nicoletti.
Pro-rector Thodesen generously praised his Italian colleagues:
- For many years, Italian researchers and students have been vital members of the OsloMet community. They contribute in numerous areas and are a highly valued resource in our research, teaching, and innovation. Hosting this event is an important recognition of their work and a way to highlight the significant contributions Italian researchers and students make to many Norwegian universities, Thodesen said.
Research on food policy and consumer choices
OsloMet's own researchers were a natural part of the seminar program.
Professor Laura Terragni presented her research on the role of food policy in promoting sustainability and health, while Associate Professor Marco Tagliabule discussed his research on consumer choices and behavior.
