Data protection officer
The Data Protection Officer can assist individuals (employees, students, visiting researchers, visitors and respondents or informants in research projects) who believe that OsloMet has processed their personal data in a non-compliant or unlawful manner.
OsloMet has a Data Protection Officer who safeguards the privacy interests of OsloMet’s students, employees and researchers.
The Data Protection Officer is not subject to the management’s authority to issue instructions when performing their role as DPO.
The Data Protection Officer at OsloMet is Hildur Thorarensen from Sikt. OsloMet outsources this service to Sikt, which is the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research. The Data Protection Officer can be reached via e-mail at: personvernombud@oslomet.no.
The data protection officer's tasks
The Data Protection Officer shall, among other things,
- assist OsloMet with information and advice relating to the processing of personal data, monitor compliance with data protection legislation and point out any breaches of the regulations if discovered, see overview of the processing of personal data (protocol).
- assist individuals whose personal data is registered with OsloMet in exercising their rights
- cooperate with and act as a point of contact for the Norwegian Data Protection Authority
- upon request, provide advice on data protection impact assessments (DPIA) and verify the implementation of such assessments.
