OsloMet possesses information that can be exploited and misused by foreign parties. This may concern personal data or sensitive research that can be used for government surveillance and suppression of vulnerable groups, research results of commercial value, and knowledge of strategic importance to the development of military technology.
Such information can be obtained both through illegal activities such as espionage and cyber attacks and within the framework of ordinary international cooperation in education and research.
It is important, therefore, to be aware of what may constitute sensitive and strategic information in international cooperation and make sure that such data are protected in accordance with the applicable rules and guidelines for information security, data protection and export control.
