Centre for Senior Citizen Staff

Centre for Senior Citizen Staff

The Centre for Senior Citizen Staff is an interdisciplinary shared office for pensioners and emeriti who are still academically active. The centre is a competence pool for the university and gives retired staff an opportunity to continue their academic pursuits and enjoy the company of colleagues.
  • About the centre

The centre was established in 2002 and is a vibrant academic community. Our seniors are in possession of sound knowledge, competence and experience that the university would like to harness and further develop. The individual members contribute through academic activities such as scientific publication, textbooks, dissemination, teaching, lectures, courses, supervision, mentoring, examiner and seminar work, history writing etc. Some members have an agreement with a department or faculty, whereas others work independently. The centre is there so that our pensioners and emeriti have somewhere to work. No one receives a salary from the centre.

The centre organises academic and social activities, including Wednesday meetings with lectures and writing courses.

The centre has designated representatives to keep track of the various events, and the head of centre is affiliated to the university’s HR department.

  • Location

The centre is located in the ‘student house’ P52, in the D area, on level three, and is connected to OsloMet’s overall infrastructure. It has 18 offices with stationary computers and 2–3 workstations per office. The premises also include a kitchen, common area and audiovisual aids. The centre is close to the library, canteen, student hall and the Festsalen venue.

  • How to be assigned a workstation at the Centre for Senior Citizen Staff

Workstations are assigned on application, and it is possible to apply to use a workstation for two whole/half days per week, or for drop-in access in offices adapted for this purpose if you want to use the workstation more sporadically. There is limited space and everyone must share the workstations. At least two persons must share a workstation, and there are at least two workstations per office. Users keep their email account and access card.

Pensioners and emeriti who have agreed to carry out assignments for OsloMet will be prioritised. Others who want to work on their own academic projects of relevance to OsloMet will be assigned a workstation if possible.

  • Criteria for being assigned a workstation

    • Be academically active
    • For permanent workstations: continuity of use, communicate absence to the other users of the shared office, take part in and take on tasks for the community, contribute to events for members and open events for OsloMet’s pensioners and others.
    • For drop-in access: accept the ‘first come, first served’ principle. Take on tasks in connection with regular use.
    • Register dissemination, research and development work in accordance with the requirements that apply to institutional recognition in the performance-based research information system Cristin, where relevant. Report own activities if requested.
    • Notify the head of centre if you are unable to use the workstation so that it can be assigned to someone else.
  • Allocation of workstations

Workstations (permanent or drop-in) for new seniors are only assigned on the basis of reasoned applications. They can also be assigned during the semester should one become available.

Those who applied by 26 November and have been assigned a workstation need not apply for this round. New application rounds will be held for everyone well before the autumn semester 2023.

  • Application form

If you would like to be associated with the vocational center for seniors, contact Per Arne Olsen (email). You will then receive a link to an online form that acts as a contract.

If you are already a member and need to renew your access (for example after you have had other contracts at OsloMet), contact hr-fellestjenester@oslomet.no.
