Employees who are going on staff exchange are encouraged to travel in an environmentally friendly way. By doing so, you can get additional Erasmus+ grant!
  • What is green travel?

    Green travel is defined as a travel carried out in an environmentally friendly manner i.e. by train, bus, car sharing, bicycle or electric car.  

  • How much grant will I receive?

    If you travel environmentally friendly way i.e. by train, bus, car sharing, bicycle or electric car, you qualify for increased travel grant rates depending on the distance you travel. You can also get up to 4 extra days subsistence grant, to compensate for any additional days spent travelling. 

    Travel rates green travel:

    •     Travel distance between 100 and 499 km: €210 per participant
    •     Travel distance between 500 and 1999 km: €320 per participant
    •     Travel distance between 2000 and 2999 km: €410 per participant
    •     Travel distance between 3000 and 3999 km: €610 per participant

    More than 50 per cent of the distance you travel must be carried out in an environmentally friendly way. Use the distance calculator (ec.europa.eu) to calculate the distance of your travels.

  • What do I have to do to receive a grant for green travel?

    Before you go

    Fill in the information about green travel and Declaration on Honour in the application form for Erasmus+ staff exchange (online application form).

    During your stay abroad

    Document your way of travel/transport by taking a picture of the tickets or yourself on the bicycle or in the car. 

    When you return

    • Document your way of travel/transport by taking a picture of the tickets or yourself on the bicycle or in the car
    • Document the duration of the travel (roundtrip) to get additional grant for up to 4 days in connection with your travels.
