In 2023, OsloMet will for the first time award a prize for this year's master's thesis.

Who can win the prize?

The award will go to a student or a group of students who have submitted a good and professionally relevant master's thesis that stands out for being innovative and/or has the potential to change practice in a professional field.

What is the prize?

This year's master's thesis is awarded with a diploma and NOK. 15,000 for individual award winners and NOK 10,000 per student for group assignments. The prize winners dispose of the prize money as they wish. 

How does nomination take place?

The supervisor and/or examiner can nominate assignments within one year of the assignment being submitted. The nominations must be well reasoned based on the assessment criteria. 

What are the assessment criteria? 

The master’s thesis must be graded A or B. 
The following criteria will form the basis for assessment and awarding: 

  • Relevance for the professional fields OsloMet educates in or relevance for research on professions
  • Originality and/or potential to change practice in a professional field 

The selection

OsloMet's education committee is the jury for the award and selects the winner(s). The jury will make its decision based on the nominations and a recommendation from the education department.
