  • Kaja Granum Skarpaas

I am currently employed as an Associate Professor of English at the Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education (GFU). I hold a teaching degree in English and Social Studies from the University of Oslo (UiO) and have earned a PhD in English didactics from the same institution. My dissertation focuses on English instruction as part of upper secondary vocational education in Norway, and I have a particular interest in students with non-academic aspirations and their experiences with school and learning.

Since January 2014, I have been temporarily employed in the higher education sector (teacher education at UiO and OsloMet), initially as a university lecturer, then as a PhD candidate, followed by a return to a lecturer position, and now as an Associate Professor. This journey has given me a wide range of experiences. Over the past ten years, I have experienced both the rewarding and the more challenging aspects of temporary employment and believe I have a solid foundation to advocate the interests of temporary staff as part of the faculty board.

Additionally, I have served on several other boards. The most relevant examples include serving as a deputy member on the institute board at my previous workplace, being vice-chairperson of the school board of Einar Granum Kunstfagskole and functioning as a representative for the temporarily employed at LUI during the academic year 2022/2023.

  • Gro Mathias

My name is Gro Mathias and I work in the social sciences department at GFU. I have been temporarily employed at GFU since 2016, first as a PhD student, then as an assistant professor, and from August this year as an associate professor. I have just completed my doctoral thesis, in which I examine knowledge practices in teacher education in the light of therapeutic culture. I have a bachelor’s degree in development studies and a masters degree in multicultural and international education from IST.

If I am elected as a representative for temporary positions, I would like to help ensure that temporary employees feel well cared for, respected and well informed throughout the employment period with relevant information about their rights and work tasks. I also want to emphasize the importance of teaching experience for PhD students, including the possibility of a four-year scholarship. For many, this is important for their chances of permanent employment. For other temporary academic staff, I will work to ensure that they are allocated research time as early as the first year.

I am highly motivated and interested in learning more about democratic processes at OsloMet and want to help promote opportunities for participation and democratic engagement also among temporary employees.

  • Terje Ulv Throndsen

I have been employed as a university lecturer in a temporary position at YLU since August 2023, where I primarily teach in further education in special needs education. Prior to this, I had a seven-year-long career as a kindergarten teacher, followed by a master's degree in special needs education at the University of Oslo (UiO). After completing my master's degree in 2017, I worked as a research assistant at the Department of Special Needs Education (ISP) at UiO, before I became a research fellow there in 2019.

During my time as a research fellow at ISP, I had the pleasure of serving as a representative for the temporarily employed in both the faculty board at the Faculty of Educational Sciences and in the department board at ISP. These experiences have given me valuable insight into governance processes and decision-making in academic institutions.

One of my core interests is working for equal opportunities for all, with a special focus on vulnerable groups. I believe that my background as a kindergarten teacher and special needs educator, along with my research and board experience, makes me a valuable addition to the faculty board at LUI.
