Improved online presentation of study programme structure
OsloMet has developed new presentations on its website showing how each individual study programme is structured.
The purpose is to give applicants and students a more intuitive and universally designed presentation of study programmes, pathways and course structure.
OsloMet’s new solution for displaying programme structure is a further development of previous study views based on data from the Felles Studentsystem (FS).
The view is part of the programme and course descriptions on the student websites, and can be found under the expandable section “Structure” on each page. Here is an example from the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design (student.oslomet.no).
Collaboration on development
The development process has been carried out in close collaboration between the central administration and the faculties. In addition, students have user-tested the solution in several rounds and provided valuable feedback.
“I am really pleased that we have a new solution that gives our students a clear and simple overview of how their study is structured and which courses they will take and when. This is something we have missed for a long time,” says Vice Rector for Education, Silje Fekjær.
“With the new website presentation, together with our new app MineStudier, I believe we are responding to students’ wishes for a study experience that is easier to navigate. Thanks to Department of ICT, Department of External Relations and Communications and the Department of Academic Affairs for their strong collaboration in finding a new and better solution,” says Fekjær.
The solution follows best practice for user experience and is adapted for PC, tablet and mobile phone. FS data on study programmes is now used to an even greater extent. This provides better data quality, more accurate presentations of choices and less manual maintenance.
Change in two phases
The change will take place in two phases. For current students and new students starting this autumn, the solution was launched on student.oslomet.no this week. A version for prospective students on oslomet.no will be launched in the autumn, ahead of the recruitment season for the 2027 academic year.
Digital demo meeting about the solution
You are welcome to join a short demo meeting on Teams for all interested parties on Monday 11 May at 11:00. The meeting is in Norwegian. There will be a walkthrough of the solution and an opportunity to ask questions.
