Seed funding

Seed funding supports research projects in their initial phase and activities that contribute in building new research activities at HiOA. Seed funding can cover the purchase of external services, travel and subsistence expenses or other costs related with the project.

The seed funds are announced annually by the research programmes HOV and The Urban Research Programme. The funds are meant to contribute in developing extensive academic activity across the faculties.

You can apply for seed funding for a variety of measures, such as:

  • Support for academic seminars and workshops,
  • Application development for national and international sources of funding and
  • Support for internal, national and international network building

The measures for which you apply for funding must provide concrete results. Examples of such results may be a project application for an external funding source or the establishment of a concrete collaborative project.

It is assumed that the applicant associates his/her application/project with the priorities described in the research programme's programme plan.
