The R&D, Promising researchers, Dissemination and Innovation awards

Do you know of anyone at OsloMet who has excelled in research, research dissemination or innovation?

The purpose of the R&D, Promising researchers, Dissemination and Innovation awards is to give an appreciation that stimulates and inspires the award recipients and their environments at OsloMet. The prices are NOK 150,000 and will be used to continue the work of the person, group, environment or project.

You can nominate individuals, groups, environments or the project for the four awards. It is important that you provide a good reason why your candidate deserves the award.

The nomination forms for this year's awards is closed, but will open later this year.

In autumn 2021, the rectorate decided to introduce the Prize for promising researchers. This award is aimed at researchers at the start of their research career.

  • More about the prize for promising researchers

    The prize for promising researchers will raise awareness of the research and development work at OsloMet and inspire the development of this business. The award is awarded to a staff member who has excelled in research or development work of very high quality. Emphasis is placed on societal relevance and recognition in national and international research environments as well as on the candidate's contribution to the development of the academic environment. The prize money will be used for measures that will further strengthen the prize-maker's R&D environment.

    The prize is to be awarded to staff in recruitment positions (fellows and postdoctoral fellows) as well as academic staff who have completed their dissertation within the last five years. At the time of award, the candidate must be employed in a main position at OsloMet. Upon application and attached documentation, time can be deducted from the 5-year limitation for academic staff because of statutory leaves, military service or continuous sickness absence corresponding to at least eight weeks of full-time absence.

    The award must be used in its entirety for R&D activities or other measures that are suitable for strengthening the award winner's academic environment in accordance with the award winner's wishes. Current measures can e.g., be workshops, travel expenses for networking, purchasing software or research equipment that benefits the environment, remuneration of scientific assistants for a temporary period or publication funds. The prize money cannot be used for ordinary salary expenses. Awarding the prize shall not result in any form of reduction in the allocation of operating assets, equipment grants or other benefits to which the prize winner is normally entitled.

    The Innovation Prize will raise awareness of innovation at OsloMet and inspire development in this area at this university. The award is awarded to an employee, academic environment, or project, who has, or has been associated with OsloMet, and who, through innovation, has distinguished themselves in or outside OsloMet. The recipient (s) has made a special effort to promote innovation to students and staff at OsloMet, and in a way that results from the innovation work is also utilized outside OsloMet. Emphasis is placed on the candidate's contribution to promoting new ideas and ideas that are utilized, new and innovative ways of working, and / or that a particularly increased degree of innovation in projects / initiatives is facilitated. The prize money will be used for measures that further strengthen innovation at OsloMet.

    The award must be used in its entirety for measures that can help to strengthen the academic environment's contribution to innovation in accordance with the award winner's wishes. Current measures can e.g. be workshops, travel expenses for networking, purchase of software or equipment that benefits the environment, remuneration of scientific assistants for a temporary period, TTO expenses, patenting or dissemination expenses. The prize money cannot be used for ordinary salary expenses. Awarding the prize shall not result in any form of reduction in the allocation of operating assets, equipment grants or other benefits to which the prize winner is normally entitled.

  • More about the Dissemination award

    The dissemination prize is awarded to employees and academic communities who actively disseminate professional knowledge in an excellent way to society and working life. Emphasis is placed on user-oriented and general-purpose high-quality dissemination in various dissemination channels. The prize money will be used for measures that strengthen the academic community's profiling and dissemination activities.

    The prize must be used in its entirety for measures that can contribute to strengthening the academic environment's profiling and dissemination activities in accordance with the prize winner's wishes. Current measures can e.g. be workshops, conferences, travel expenses for networking, remuneration of scientific assistants for a temporary period or publication funds. The prize money cannot be used for ordinary salary expenses. Awarding the prize shall not result in any form of reduction in the allocation of operating assets, equipment grants or other benefits to which the prize winner is normally entitled.

    • The prize for promising researchers was awarded to Semih Gonen at Department of Civil Engineering and Energy Technology, Faculty of Technology, Art and Design
    • The Innovation award went to Gustavo Borges Moreno e Mello, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Technology, Art and Design
    • The dissemination award went to Kristin Skare Orgeret, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences.

    • The R&D award went to Marit Haldar at the interdisciplinary research group WATT at the Department of Social Work, Child Welfare and Social Policy at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
    • The dissemination award went to the research group Public Health Nutrition at the Department of Nursing and Health Promotion at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

    • The R&D award went to Karl Joachim Breunig at the research group DISKO at the Oslo Business School at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
    • The innovation award went to the researchers behind the Cozin project led by Anthony Giannoumis from the Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design
    • The dissemination prize went to the Ungdata center at the Norwegian Social Research NOVA at the Centre for Welfare and Labour Research
